Well it’s Sunday afternoon already, is it just me, or do the weekends just fly by? I really don’t know where the year is disappearing to! As promised here it is…
I made another Monday morning flower necklace, this time on Friday 🙂 They really are a very quick project. This time round I added a couple of extra small flowers to the chain, you can choose to add these or not.
If you want to make one of your own, you will need some scraps of yarn and a corresponding hook. These were made with a 4mm hook and 8ply cotton. Some pretty buttons will make the necklace extra special!
To make the Main Flower; Make a magic circle, chain 2 and DC into the circle 9 times. SS into the top of the chain 2 to form a circle. (10)
Round 2: Chain 2, DC into the same stitch, DC, HDC, SS into the next stitch. *HDC, DC into the first stitch, DC, HDC, SS into the next stitch* – repeat between * and * around (5 petals formed).
Round 3 – Flip over. Chain 1 and SS into the middle of the back of the first petal. Chain 2, SS into middle of next petal- repeat around (5 back of petal loops formed). If you are using multiple colours fasten off.
Round 4 – Join next colour into one of the 2 chain loops. Chain 1, HDC, DC x 4, HDC, SS into each petal loop around. SS into first petal loop.
Round 5 – Flip over. SS into the middle of the first stitch, Chain 4, SS into middle of first petal. Chain 4, SS into middle of next petal – repeat around until 5 petal loops formed. Fasten off.
Round 6 – Join next colour into one of the 4 chain loops. Chain 1, HDC, DC x 5, HDC, SS into each petal loop around. SS into first petal loop.
Here’s what it should look like at this point:
To make the ‘necklace’ chain 80 (or however long you want your necklace to be), join with an SC into the petal loop 2 petals over. Fasten off and weave in all ends.
If you would like to, make a couple of small flowers to add to your necklace:
Small Flowers.
Chain 4 and join with a SS to form a circle.
Round 1. Chain 2 * SC, Ch 1* repeat between * and * 6 times. Join with a SS and fasten off.
Round 2. Join new colour in any chain 1 space. CH1, DC, SS into ch 1 space. *SC, DC2, SS into each chain 1 space around. SS between last petal to first petal and fasten off.
Sew your small flowers to the necklace:
Add buttons if you want to make it extra special:
And there you go, two necklaces…
As I type this the children are dancing around the lounge in butterfly wings to this song… bliss! I think Ill go and join them…Jxx
