An octopian air plant

Air Plant tillandsia 1I have many different varieties of Tillandsia (otherwise know as air plants) dotted around my house. This one is particularly beguiling I think, with its octopus like arms it looks like it would be most at home under the sea.

Air Plant tillandsia 2Instead it lives attached to a stick above my kitchen sink, hanging out with all the kitchen utensils. A perfect little spot for him, lots of light, nice and warm with occasional steam 🙂

I’d like to report that after running out of cotton, I finally finished my doily. It’s currently drying outside in the sun after a ‘no pins’ blocking. As soon as I get some photos I’ll be back to share it with you. How’s your weekend going? J xoxo

I’ll suggest your plant to my brother. He too has air plants, a couple on his stairwell up to his first floor flat. One would be great in his kitchen like that.
It was my birthday yesterday and the staff in my new job gave me a miniture orchid, which was a real surprise. I’ve had orchids before and only managed to keep them for a year or so. Bart, our Polish member of staff told me before he returns home, next year, he will repot and dress it for me. His family collect orchids. How lucky is that?
My aunt and uncle have arrived from America (although it was a bad flight and my aunt ended up in hospital on arrival) and today I’m taking my motorbike to watch Sand trials in Weymouth and I promise not ride too fast so my husband can keep up!

    Happy weekend

Hi Trudi, I love air plants and pot plants in general! Plants around the house are awesome. I never had any luck with orchids until I started watering them with orchid food ( the powder kind you mix with water). They now flower all the time 🙂 Enjoy the ride and drive safely!
