As you’ve probably already guessed, winter is not my favorite season. We seem to be having more than our share of bugs this winter, but then there are some bright spots…
Today for instance, lying in the afternoon sun cosied in crochet blankets and cuddling my hot water bottle (and various small children) while reading a good book… Bliss!
This got me thinking about what I love about winter and without any trouble at all I settled on a few favorites:
So now I’m wondering, what would you add to the list – what do you love about the cold winter months? I know some of you (in fact if the stats are correct, most of you) are currently enjoying the midst of the northern hemisphere summer. But no matter where you are in the world, mid summer or mid winter, I hope you are having a wonderful Sunday full of happiness and many small pleasures!Β – xo J
Always great t remember every season has an upside π What would I add to the list? Snow – when you have nowhere to go. Knitting by the fire. The warmth of the aga. Crisp bright sunny mornings. And, of course, in the UK we have Christmas! π

I love winter! Perhaps because I am photosensitive so summer is no fun for me! But I seem to give myself more time inside crafting and creating, also I do a lot of planning. Plus I love stews, soups and using my lovely slow cooker to have something warm and wholesome waiting when I get home! Lou x

I love jumping back into black tights and boots! (If my feet feel cosy, the rest of me does too!). Now, what else …?
Crisp, icy air. The sweet scent of turf burning, comfort food and like you, snuggling in with a good book or crochet. βΊοΈ Patsy

I would add snow and Christmas too. And a long walk in the forrest with the family.
And even though I am on the northern part of the hemisphere, it does not feel a lot like summer here. I enjoy the wollen socks and sweaters also…

When I read the title of this week’s page, I did a double take… until I remembered that you are – actually – in the midst of winter! I would add the following: Lots of yarn stash, making snow angels, warm scarves, lots of fresh snow, hot cider, having friends over, and Christmas trees.
I so love the pic for your site. The peach yarn and flower petals always makes me smile.

Outside work subsides, warm fires, couch cuddles, fresh falling snow, white blanketed landscape, knitting and sewing in my lap

Snow on the rare occasions we get it in Southampton as long as it doesn’t outstay it’s welcome. π Bright sun without it being too hot. The shape of bare trees. Better television! Warm winter casseroles.

Winter does have its pluses – and cuddling up in warm blankets with a good book is definitely one of them!

Love snuggling under a wooly balnket on the sofa with a good movie. Also I must tell you I was searching for a pattern using google images and this cheeky little face popped up and I instantly recognised your little man!

Oh, I love Winter. Agree with everything on your list but would add: great for hand quilting, roast dinners and slow cooked casseroles.

I love winter!! Of course winter in SoCal doesn’t include snow so I don’t freeze. I like rainy days for knitting and crocheting; sharing a blanket with thecat while I read and watching it rain! I really don’t do well in the hot weather!

I am not a huge fan of winter but I like the heater, the winter flowering flowers and it being dark when it is bed time. π

Being able to wear my hand knit shawls. I live in 12 months of summer and am very excited that we will be having a northern hemisphere winter holiday complete with snow at the end of the year.

A brisk walk in the chilly air and then coming home to a warm meal of shepherd’s pie and chocolate fudge pudding. Yum! π

I love sleeping under the weight of 4-5 quilts. =) I love that life slows down. I’m not a fan of cold, or wet or snow, but last winter, there were ten days I couldn’t go anywhere because it was so cold and everything was wet and frozen. I live up two hills that are, literally, 45-degree-angled streets. My son popped a tire trying to get his car backed out of the driveway, so he was stuck almost as long as I was ’cause the tow truck wouldn’t come up until the roads melted. Can’t blame ’em. That was nice because no one was coming to visit and I didn’t have to go anywhere! I sewed the entire time, because we never lost power – but I have a handcrank if we do. =) Now that I don’t live in the dry desert cliimate, and I don’t do well in humidity, winter is becoming more of a favorite with me.
