The week is flying by, I can’t believe it’s Wednesday already. I’m back at work this week while the rest of the family is still holidaying – it’s so hard to walk out of the house when I know they are still at home relaxing… luckily I only work part time and am home each day at 1pm!
I thought I’d share my latest crochet project progress. Is there anything more satisfying than the remains of a big pile of sewn in ends?I sewed these in last night whilst watching the Australian Open, I’d planned to sew in each one as I went but somehow that didn’t happen! 35 circles down, 14 to go… I WILL sew the rest of the ends in as I go.
It’s going to be a bright cheery throw. It’s so hot here right now that crocheting these circles is a perfect portable summer crochet project.
I’m planning on using one color for the squares, and to join as I go so I’d be interested to know if you have any suggestions for the contrasting color for the squares and outer rounds?
How’s your week going? Jxo
Sewing in ends in crochet is like the doing the washing up after a great meal, but alas it has to be done. I love the cheerful colourful circles, the centres remind me of little flowers so I am voting for a grassy green for the joining outer rounds.

I think white for the squares would make all those beautiful colours pop right out. Maybe the dark green and deep maroon you have used for the outer edges? Looking forward to seeing the end result x

A lovely soft grey would really set off the vibrant colors of the circles.

I always think dark blue or white make a good base colour but bright red would look cool too. Lucy 🙂

Cream is a classic, black suits everything and always sets off bright colours but I always like red if you want a bright background.

I think cream, cream will keep the colors cheery. On my computer some of the colors are a bit dark but I love how they all look together so cream would make them look like flowers popping up.

Lovely circles!
I propose white or a very light grey, or even a cream color white like the color of milk.

How about a duck egg blue, similar to the soft grey some have suggested? Love your colours! Jen

Lovely lot of circles! It’s hard to be sure what colour to suggest for the outer squares without knowing the exact colours you have used already but I was thinking of a natural fawn sort of colour or white so the circles really stand out. Maybe if you had a look on the web you could see what choices others have made and get a feel of how it might look.

Definitely a mid grey. That’s what immediately sprang to mind before I read everyone else’s responses.

Are the crochet terms you are using UK? If so, I need to figure out the US equivalent. Also, I’m not familiar with 12-ply yarn.

Hi Gayle, the pattern is US crochet terms, all my patterns are US. I’d call 12ply a bulky weight yarn, it’s thicker than worsted. Hope that helps! Janette
