Red hat

Maia’s friend Kezia turned 5 this week and Maia asked me to make a hat for her.  She has gorgeous dark brown hair and brown eyes, so I think this deep red will really suit her.

Maia took quite a liking to it and has requested one of her own in these colours!Crochet hat free patternThe rose for this hat is adapted from cult of crochet. My version is smaller and goes like this:

Using a 4mm hook and dk yarn.

Row 1: In first colour chain 32

Row 2: DC into the 6th chain from the hook, *ch2, skip one stitch, dc into the next stitch*

*Repeat between * and * to the end of the row.

Row 3: Chain 2, turn, skip the first stitch of the previous row, dc into the next stitch, ch2, 2dc into next stitch. *skip the dc from the previous row, 2dc, ch2, 2dc.*

*Repeat between * and * to the end of the row.

Row 4: Chain 2, turn, *6dc into the ch2 gap of the previous row, sc between the next two groups of 2dc*

*Repeat between * and * to the end of the row.

Row 5: Change to a contrasting colour. Chain 1, turn, 2sc into each stitch to the end of the row. Fasten off leaving a long end.

Arrange into a rose like shape and secure together using your long end.  Sew onto hat.

Hi. I have just discovered your wonderful blog. I have really begun to look forward to each new post. Have just made a deep pink granny style hat for my daughter. Thank you for such a quick, easy yet beautiful pattern. Looking forward to making matching owl fingerless gloves. It is summer here in the UK but we will be all set for autumn!
