I made another rose ring today, and I thought Id write a tutorial, so you can make one too.
It really is a very quick project!
Using yarn of your choice and a corresponding hook, chain 17. Double crochet in the fifth chain from the hook. Chain 1 DC into the same stitch. *Skip 1 chain, DC, Chain 1, DC int the next stitch*, repeat across your chain- you should end up with 7 DC-chain 1-DC pairs.
Turn your work. Chain 3, DC 5 times, ss into the first chain 1 space. Sc into the next space.
DC 6 times, ss into the next chain 1 space. Sc into the next space.
DC 7 times, ss into the next chain 1 space. Sc into the next space.
DC 7 times, ss into the next chain 1 space. Sc into the next space.
DC 8 times, ss into the next chain 1 space. Sc into the next space.
DC 9 times, ss into the next chain 1 space. Sc into the next space.
DC 10 times, ss into the next chain 1 space. Sc into the last space. Fasten off leaving a long end.
Roll up your rose, starting with the smallest petals in the middle and finishing with the largest petals on the outside.
Sew your rose together securing all petals using the long end.
Crochet leaves, to do this all I did was join a green yarn and chain 10 then slip stitch it back into the starting chain, repeat for as many leaves as you like. Tie your ends together, and then weave all ends in.
I brought a pack of rings from spotlight for about $4, they have a large surface with holes which makes them perfect for crochet embellishment.
Using a small needle and thread sew the rose to the ring:
That’s it, all done!
If a ring is not your thing, this would also make a nice brooch (not too big), or hair tie. I made one for Maia, simply sew the rose securely to the hair tie before you weave in your ends.

Hi Leslie, I got mine at Spotlight which is a craft store here in NZ, but if you are elsewhere there are loads online which could be shipped, they don’t weigh much do I don’t imagine it would be expensive. Try Etsy or just google for ring blanks. Hope that helps! Janette

Small pony tail holders can make a good base if you can’t find the metal ring. Or chain a loop the perfect size for your finger.

I love both, ring and ponytail holder. I will make them for my 3 granddaughters. The ponytail holder can be used for napkin holder. It’s not that small, but if you think it’s going to be too small for the yarn you could try a 4mm the first time?

Ive tried this over and over and realized that I felt bad because I had to leave a constructive comment. However all the people that commented before me have said they were “going to try this” rather than actually accomplishing it. You cannot get 7-DC-chain1-DC pairs without putting them into the same stitch.
