My pink crochet cushioned creation is all finished… and I am really happy with how it has turned out.
Once I finished the 9 squares, I simply crocheted them together using single crochet. At this point I realised my cushion cover wasnt quite big enough for the cushion inner I had made it for. Never mind, two rows for single crochet and a row of double crochet meant it was good to go.
There is a great tutorial at Attic 24 for a cushion back using a recycled jumper, but with no suitable old woolens in sight I settled on some grey fabric from my stash. Once the front was sewed onto the back (right sides together), I sewed a row of my pink wool across the opening in the back to give me something to crochet onto.
I then slip stiched across the opening and came back in single crochet leaving a 1 stitch (and 3 chain) gap for each button. secured the ends, sewed on my buttons and viola!
Because it’s winter here I had a hard time getting a good shot of the colour, so I took the cushion outside to make the most of the (weak) sunshine. I sat it on our BBQ next to my beautiful Mandevellia, the bright pink flowers are just about the only colour I could find today.
I hope there is a bit of colour in your Sunday! Love Janette x
